Using a case study from Colorado, the paper advocates for cased-hole HVAC geothermal systems and demonstrates how casing and thermally conductive API cements prevent methane leakage from oil and gas source rocks, addressing a major environmental risk. The proposed approach could set new industry standards, ensuring both geothermal efficiency and greenhouse gas mitigation (Duncan, IADC Tech Forum, 2024).

Case Study: PELT-Enhanced Injection Optimization

In a recent project, our PELT-EHP tool revolutionized injection well monitoring for a Rocky Mountain operator. Using Python’s Ruptures package and the PELT algorithm, we rapidly pinpointed a critical injectivity shift at ~44,550 barrels of cumulative injection, validated by the Hall derivative, for which an acid-job was conducted. This intervention significantly boosted injectivity, showcasing how our research delivers measurable efficiency gains.
